Local services for local people
Young people can have very different experiences of transition, often dependant on where they live and the
priority given to transition in their area.
The government have produced a range of guidance and strategies which aim to improve the transition
experience for all young people, and which highlight the need for multi-agency collaborative approaches to
ensure that young people and their families are listened to, and that local supports and services are available.
These include:
- Aiming High for Disabled Children: better support for families (2007)
- Services for People with Learning Disabilities and Challenging Behaviour or Mental Health Needs
- Learning for Living and Work
- Progression through Partnership
- Valuing People Next Steps
