Learning for Living and Work (Learning and Skills Council, 2006)
Learning for Living and Work www.lsc.gov.uk/publications emphasises its
commitment to learners with learning difficulties and disabilities. It states that such learners ‘should not be
marginalised and we must strive harder to deliver access to, and experience of, post-16 learning’.
The strategy aims to provide high quality education and training for post-16 learners with the most complex
learning difficulties and/or disabilities, and recognises the importance of collaboration with other agencies
and government departments.
It further recognises the importance of person-centred planning and the need for a range of agencies to
collaborate and contribute to a person-centred approach to meet individuals’ needs.
Each LSC region is required to have an action plan to deliver the vision set out in the strategy, including the
need for accessible local and regional provision as opposed to provision far from where learners live.
