Valuing People – Next Steps

Valuing People – Next Steps
At the time of writing, the next steps for Valuing People is under consultation.  This sets out the vision for
the next three years of Valuing People with the following priorities:
. Personalisation-people having choice and control over their own lives and services
. What people do during the day – joined up working between adult social services, employment and education
sectors to ensure people live the lives they want as equal citizens in their communities
. Better health – actions to address the health inequalities for people with learning disabilities
. Housing – people with learning disabilities having more choice and control over where and how they live

It also emphasises that local planning to deliver Valuing People Now needs to start with people with most
complex needs, with the principle of developing additional services and supports, rather than separate ones. This
includes the use of the government’s advice note on people with autism to ensure people do not fall between
different local services. www.valuingpeople.gov.uk
