Benchmarking + Performance and Quality

Established in 2001, the Benchmarking Group has collected and analysed data on SEN and produced five reports on the outcome of the exercise. The Analysis and commentary about the data collected has been carried out by a consultant and the results reported to the West Midlands Management Team (now the Management Consortium) on an annual basis, enabling discussion about regional variations. The data has been used by West Midlands LAs in a variety of ways and has helped to inform inspections. The work on benchmarking, performance and quality is being expanded to include the wider remit of Children’s Services and will underpin all the work of the West Midlands Regional Partnership. It is intended that performance indicators will be further developed and quality assurance measures produced through the work of the group.
