FREDA – Forum for Regional Educational Development - Autism (ASD Training Steering Group)
Co-ordination and collaboration between agencies is vital to provide and monitor the high standards of training that needs to be developed to meet the needs of children with an ASD their families, other service users and providers. The Regional Partnership’s Autism Training Working Groups have produced protocols and guidelines which address quality issues and a framework to help identify local and regional training needs beginning with lay people through to highly specialist personnel in health and education (2004).
PURPOSE
The work of FREDA is to help ensure the development and delivery of quality multi-agency ASD training across the West Midlands:
- To maintain an overview of ASD training in the region
- To co-ordinate and disseminate information regionally
- To ensure consistency
- To review policy
- To monitor and evaluate impact
- To review quality assurance standards and procedures
- To audit providers’ competencies and systems
- To co-ordinate information on training needs
- To co-ordinate information on uptake
- To report on the above as required
